You can confirm whether your FíRIN requires a firmware update or not by checking the lens current firmware version through your camera setting menu.
Menu → Setup → [Version]*
Your Sony camera screen will show you the current firmware version of your camera and attached lens
as in the example below:

Lens version.02 is the newest firmware update (December 2018).
Note: the setup page is usually the last tab in Sony cameras' setting menu. Should you have any issues in finding the Setup menu, please consult the instruction manual of your Sony camera body.
